BLUEBERRY MOUNTAIN on a BLUE BIRD SKY DAY
On February 28 Mark Harvey, Kathy Astrauckas, Bill Corson, Tom Kahl and Iris Berezin (leader) set off to hike Blueberry Mountain on the trail to the east. Under partly sunny skies and blustery conditions, the group started the trip in boots, on spikes and snowshoes. The trail of newly fallen snow was packed out making the journey somewhat easy. Soon the mountains came into view. Once we reached the open ledges, everyone transitioned to snowshoes to avoid creating post holes. At Summit Rock, Tom and Bill took the side trip to the summit and planned to return to their car after that.
Mark, Kathy and Iris continued on an unbroken trail to a place with a good Vermont view. There, our lunch stop was cut short due to the winds picking up. It was not a good spot for relaxing and eating.
On the return trip, Mount Moosilauke, the main reason for making the trip, came into view. Snowcapped under a blue bird sky of full sun, the mountain was dazzling. For the remainder of the trip down, Moosilauke followed us like the Mona Lisa, always in view out of the corner of our eye. Perfect weather made for a perfect ending to our day.

Comment from Annie Janeway, Trip Leader and Snowshoeathon Committee:
So happy to see you all snowshoeing for the VerShare kids camp and program. It was a picture perfect day for a lunch and outing. Thanks for showing up and keeping this tradition going.
